Finding your style is about many things.

Firstly, it’s about getting rid of your preconceptions (and misconceptions) about the ‘correct’ style for picture books.

Secondly, finding your style is about getting out of your own head.

Thirdly, it's about doing a task so differently that something new emerges.

While a short challenge might not cement your new style once and for all, it will break the ice of habit, open new ways of working and get you started on developing a unique and memorable illustration style that is yours alone.

This time our challenge is to draw houses that have narrative effect.

Not just any house. A house that tells a story, all by itself.

Just using line, scale, proportion and shadow.

And by drawing in unfamiliar and challenging (but loose and fun) ways.

Keep your eyes peeled for emails with your challenge workbook AND facebook group sign-in.

I look forward to seeing you in the group and to seeing the wonderful house illustrations you come up with.
